mini simmons templates.

Its been quiet on the board building front lately but since finishing the mini simmons there's been a bit of interest in the templates - if you fancy making your own then drop me an email and I can send you a set of full size plans for my wooden version. Just let your conscience decide how much you would like to donate for them - this is a great organisation in the North East, so just follow the donate button here:

dipped in blanket diaganol EMO longboard.

Never got round to posting the latest longboard = 9'8" evolution longboard, designed by dennis hanson (dirtycrows surfboards) in florida. was in a gloomy place at the time of glassing so the resin job got a little crazy. I like it though, and at 16lbs not too heavy. Thanks to rootedorigin.com for the paulownia = will be back for more. Worked a treat for the pivot fin also = 2.5 planks in total, and all shorter than the finished board = diaganol is good.

bus for sale.

time this baby went to a new home - in need of a little tlc..

out of control.

if we could work out a way of turning some of this into diesel we'd be laughing..

pretty much all of this was from seed, including the heritage tomatoes.

the longboard got sanded today in our back street.
those little design details worked out OK too - rail taper, vee in the tail and nose concave:

mini simmons.

nearly done - just a case of cutting the notch in the keels for the locking tab and opening up the leash cup and vent. sanded up to 1200 both sides but i'll leave it a day to see if theres any bits i've missed. it isn't totally perfect but is better than the last one

monster.

The woodwork on the longboard is all done for now. its huge, but very light. Nose concave looks OK but might need a little extra, tapered rails and tail vee look pretty good also. Final shaping will start once we get a dry evening - it is summer, after all

pinline.

nearly done - love it when a plan comes together...

A friend sent me a funny link from the surf a pig blog - I guess theres no such thing as an original idea on the internet these days. My board logo is way cooler though, which counts.

its hard to think that on cold, wet miserable days like today, Northumberland can also be like this:

rough shaped.

so, the glue-up is done - rough shaped and weighing in at 5kg so feels great. not a bad weight considering the wood selection - 4mm ply and pine offcuts. tail concave looks a bit more extreme than i intended, but then it looks a little thicker down that end so maybe it will work out OK. the paulownia i have would nearly halve the weight so i decided to save than for a bigger board. Thats the plan for June!
